چکیده

Migratory shorebirds are the most threatened avian species due to effects of human activities and climate change. Physiological parameters useful evaluate health status free-living animals. Here we investigated lymphocytes, heterophils, heterophils/lymphocytes, glucose for female male Two-banded Plovers (Charadrius falklandicus Latham, 1790) during nonbreeding (body moult) breeding (incubation) seasons in coastal areas northern Patagonia, Argentina. We also measured corticosterone first time this season. Nonbreeding were more likely have higher physiological measurements that not dependent on body moult nor condition, being similar between sexes. Differences found related recent feeding birds compared with fasting incubation. The gregarious behaviour comparison isolated pairs would increase risk acquiring parasites (or) pathogens inducing a response immune system reflected values lymphocytes. Baseline was sexes lower other reported plovers. undergo energetically demanding changes stage, strengthening idea conservation environmental resources at these locations may be important than previously thought.

Immunoreactivities of androgen receptor, estrogen receptors, p450arom, p450c17 proteins in wild ground squirrels ovaries during the nonbreeding and breeding seasons

The aim of this study was to elucidate the regulatory role of androgen in the follicular development of wild female ground squirrels. Immunohistochemical staining of FSHR, LHR, P450c17, P450arom, androgen receptor (AR), estrogen receptors (ERa and ERb) were executed in ovaries of female ground squirrels from both breeding and nonbreeding seasons. In addition, total ovarian proteins were extract...

Immunolocalization of NGF and its Receptors in Ovarian Surface Epithelium of the Wild Ground Squirrel during the Breeding and Nonbreeding Seasons

The ovarian surface epithelium (OSE) plays an important role in normal ovarian physiology. During each reproductive cycle, the OSE takes part in the cyclical ovulatory ruptures and repair. The aim of this study was to investigate the immunolocalization of nerve growth factor (NGF) and its receptors, tyrosine kinase A (TrkA) and p75, in the OSE cells of the wild ground squirrels during the breed...

Hypothalamic distribution, adenohypophyseal receptor expression, and ligand functionality of RFamide-related peptide 3 in the mare during the breeding and nonbreeding seasons.

RFamide-related peptide 3 (RFRP3), the mammalian homologue of avian gonadotropin-inhibitory hormone, has been shown to negatively regulate the secretion of LH and may contribute to reproductive seasonality in some species. Herein, we examined the presence and potential role of the RFRP3-signaling system in regulating LH secretion in the mare during the breeding and nonbreeding seasons. Hypothal...
